Everyone who considers taking their digital privacy and personal data safety a step further should think about using additional layers of security. We all know about cybercriminals and their constant attempts to get our passwords, logins, and payment information. But do we ever think that the government, advertisers, and a lot of third-party companies might also be interested in collecting sensitive facts about us?
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) encrypt all traffic between your device and the Internet, protect your personal information and help to access geo-blocked content.
Here’s how it works:
VPN on your device encrypts your Internet activity at every step and sends it to the VPN server.
Your Internet Server Provider (ISP) sees that you are connected to the Internet but can’t track your browsing activity or search history.
Encrypted traffic goes to VPN servers. After that, the server decrypts traffic and sends it to the Internet. The received reply is encrypted by the server again before it is sent back to you.
The VPN app decrypts the data so you can work with it.
As you already know VPNs need some extra time for encrypting and decrypting users’ Internet traffic. Does it mean that you pay for a slower Internet speed using a VPN?
The answer is no. Trustworthy VPN services do everything to make internet connection as fast as it can be and even faster in the cases when the internet speed is intentionally limited by ISP.
Does Polish VPN make me completely anonymous?
Laptop, smartphone, or smart TV, every device connected to the Internet has its own IP address provided by ISP. An IP address is like your online zip code. It’s pretty easy to find your location and identify you by IP.
A VPN hides your actual IP address behind another one. It looks like you are connecting to the Internet from the country or region where the VPN server is. Nobody can track your real location. This gives you more anonymity and Internet freedom.
Attitudes towards using VPNs vary by country. Using a VPN in Poland is legal, as long as your online activities don't violate any laws. If you don’t want to break the law don’t use a VPN for downloading copyrighted material, for example, software, movies, or music.
Normally you need to pay a small fee for using a premium Poland VPN service. Companies need to cover costs of the service development, maintenance of existing servers, and establishment of additional ones in different countries for better customer experience.
However, nowadays it won’t be a problem to find a free VPN, but before installing it you’d better think twice. Free VPN has a lot of vulnerabilities that make you unsafe on the Internet. Also, free VPN services in Poland can collect and sell your personal information to earn money.
A lot of Polish streaming services, websites, and applications are region-locked. This means you can’t get access when you try to connect to them from outside Poland. To avoid geo-limitation to watch your favorite content, or connect to your company’s network from any country in the world you need a Polish IP address. VPN services give users’ devices a temporary, country-specific IP. Geo-restricted platforms don’t see the difference between a VPN user and a user actually connected from Poland.
