AdGuard VPN v2.7 for Android: Compatibility with Harmony OS and HTTP/3 support
In this version we’ve achieved compatibility with Harmony OS, added HTTP/3 support, and updated the notification icon.
Harmony OS compatibility
In AdGuard VPN v2.7 for Android, we are thrilled to announce that we have achieved compatibility with Harmony OS, the operating system installed on all new Huawei devices. If you're using a Huawei device, you can now enjoy seamless and secure browsing with AdGuard VPN.
HTTP/3 support
We've added HTTP/3 support, but what’s so special about that?
HTTP/3 is a significant upgrade to the Internet's transfer protocol, coming after the approval of HTTP/2 in 2015.
The key change in HTTP/3 is it runs on QUIC, a modern transport protocol. QUIC is designed for today's mobile-centric Internet, where people use smartphones that frequently switch between different networks as they go about their day. This is different from the early days of the Internet when devices were less mobile and network switches were infrequent.
One important consequence of using QUIC is that HTTP/3 relies on UDP rather than TCP. No more abbreviations, we promise! In a nutshell, this shift to UDP results in faster connections and a speedier online browsing experience.
Now it’s possible to add DNS servers with the "h3" protocol that is faster, more secure, and reliable.
Redesigned notification icon
But that's not all! We've also taken a step forward in improving the user experience. In this update, we've given our app a fresh look by redesigning the notification icon. But it's not just about aesthetics; we've also added more connection states to the icon. Now, even when you minimize the app, you'll be able to see at a glance what status your VPN has.
